You can purchase my jewelry at the Metal Museum Gift Shop *and* at Arrow Creative in the Broad Ave Arts District. 

Open Studio Nights occur every Wednesday beginning at 6 pm. Open studio nights are $10 for use of the equipment from 6-10 pm and do not include guided learning time, but Brandy is available to demo, answer questions and assist.

April 4th @ Memphis Botanic Gardens 10 am to 5 pm - Fine Silver Metal Clay Leaves

Unique and beautiful jewelry DOES grow on trees! Want to learn how? Join us for a class by jewelry artist and ArtClay Senior Instructor Brandy Boyd. She will teach you how to use fine silver paste to immortalize a leaf in pure silver. Perfect for beginners or someone wanting to brush up on their metal clay skills, everyone will leave class with a completed fine silver pendant or pair of earrings, both perfect for gift giving or keeping. Your kit will include all the needed sterling silver findings to wear your one of a kind creation home! Just bring yourself and a desire to create and learn. All materials and tools will be provided for use. 636-4128 for more information or to register. 

April 11th @ BMB designs - Copper Fold-Formed sampler 10am to 5pm

Join us for a day of banging on copper to create a selection of fold formed patterns that can be used together in a statement bracelet, or separated into several pieces of jewelry. The only required tool for this class is a steel block. A wide selection of hammers will be available for creative exploration. All other tools are also available for use. Your 6x6 24g copper sheet, as well as an assortment of findings and consumables, are included in your class fee of $65. 

RESCHEDULED DATE : April 25th @ Arrow Creative - Kitchen Table Silversmithing- Chunky Chains

Perfect for the beginner that wants to learn small scale soldering skills for silver!

Learn to work with metal and create real, soldered silver jewelry with minimal investment! You'll learn basic metal handling, hand tools and soldering techniques (using a small, safe butane torch). Students will complete a necklace chain in class.

Beginner level silversmithing workshop. No experience necessary.

There will be an hour lunch break. Bring your own lunch or enjoy the restaurants in and around Broad Avenue.

Class Fee: $85 + Materials Fee: $50. All materials are included. (Includes sterling silver wire, jump rings, solder, studio consumables, use of specialty tools, and handouts.)

If students have the following, they're encouraged to bring them. (No worries! The instructor will have all of these for use.) - Micro torch (butane) and fuel, Soldering block, Jewelry files, Jewelry pliers, Hammers, Rawhide mallet

TBD @ Arrow Creative - Kitchen Table Silversmithing - Basic Bezel Making and Stone set Pendant

Learn how to add flat-backed stones called cabochons to silver jewelry. You'll learn about the different types of bezel wire, including gallery wire, how to fit a bezel to a stone, techniques for creating a full setting, finishing techniques, and ways to set the stone securely. Students should be able to complete a pendant with one bezel set stone in class. Link for registration coming soon

May 15th and 16th -  Camp PMC Certification @ Arkansas Craft School

Join certified Camp PMC Instructor & Memphis based professional metalsmith Brandy Boyd for this Precious Metal Clay Certification course. This class consists of a total of 14 hours of instruction spread out over two days. Students will learn all of the fundamental skills required to work with metal clays and be successful with all PMC products. 

 

Students will make 5 projects including a pair of earrings with a fireable stone, a double textured pendant with syringe detail, wrapped beads, a sculpted toggle clasp and a wrapped ring with a fireable stone. The class will utilize PMC3, PMC Flex, and PMC OneFire 950 clays to ensure each student learns the appropriate usage of each type of clay.

 

Upon successful completion of projects and lecture time, students will take a short written test. Upon passing, each student will receive a CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION from the Sawtooth School for Visual Art (Provided by the Instructor) and an 8% discount on all PMC clays at Clay Revolution and Rio Grande Jewelry Supply! May 29th-30th- Kitchen Table Silversmithing- The Basics @ Arkansas Craft School. 

This 2-day class includes my popular Chunky Chains workshop and Bezel set pendant workshop in one awesome weekend so you go home with a beautiful pendant and chain! It's a great intensive for those wanting to learn silversmithing techniques. Click on the link for all the deets!

TBD @ Arrow Creative- KTSS: Give me a hand 

In this ring making workshop, we will cover three different techniques for making rings using wire, using sheet, and creating C-ring bands to create rings that include a flat piece that could support cabochons. Students will complete a wire ring, a flat band ring, and a C-band ring in class. Link for registration coming soon

Birthday parties, girls' night out, or just a creative day with your friends, we can custom create a class for you. Let us know what you have in mind and we'll design a class that fits your plans *and* your skill level! We can even create classes that include all tools and supplies!

Here's the fine print: These are grown-up classes, but we know some kids are pretty cool and want to make awesome art too.

 

Minimum ages: 16 and a parent or guardian must also attend.

 

For girls' night out classes- wine is welcome, but you must drink responsibly. We do not permit wine/beer/etc at hot work classes.

 

Food is also welcome at all classes- we have a small fridge and a microwave on site or there are several places nearby to order food from. Workshop classes include 45-60 minutes for lunch.

 

Also offering Art Clay certification classes for groups of 4 or more. Please inquire regarding details if interested.
