Open Studio Nights occur every Wednesday beginning at 6 pm. Open studio nights are $10 for use of the equipment from 6-10 pm and do not include guided learning time, but Brandy is available to demo, answer questions and assist.

November 21st @ Arrow Creative- KTSS: Give me a hand 10 am to 5 pm
In this ring making workshop, we will cover three different techniques for making rings: using wire, using sheet, and creating C-ring bands to create rings that include a flat piece that could support cabochons. Students will complete a wire ring, a flat band ring, and a C-band ring in class. Link for registration HERE!
December 5 @ Memphis Botanic Garden - Metal Clay Gift Workshop 10 am to 5 pm
Our annual All-Things-Metal-Clay class! This class is great for beginners looking to try out metal clay and for our more advanced users, there are options to explore additional techniques and make more involved pieces. All materials are included and all tools are provided for use in class. Basic clay handling, firing schedules and finishing techniques will all be covered as well as the following three projects: Textured Earrings, Molded Pendant, and Memento Ring. Gift boxes are included, so you will leave class with finished creations ready to be wrapped and given away (or you can keep them all for yourself- we won't tell). The class kit is $65 and is payable to Brandy Boyd /BMB Designs by cash, check, or credit card the day of class. Class fee is $70 for non-members, members discount applies.
Second session added! December 19th @ Arrow Creative - KTSS - Basic Bezel Making: Pendant 10 am to 5 pm
Learn how to add flat-backed stones called cabochons to silver jewelry. You'll learn about the different types of bezel wire, including gallery wire, how to fit a bezel to a stone, techniques for creating a full setting, finishing techniques, and ways to set the stone securely. Students should be able to complete a pendant with one bezel set stone in class. Link for registration in the title above. :)
Class Fee: $85 + Materials Fee: $50. All materials are included. (Includes a sterling bail, sterling sheet for backplate, fine silver bezel wire, sterling jump rings, & stone cabochon. There will be accents available for purchase at class for students wanting additional elements for their pendant.
December 20th Make Jewelry with Brandy Boyd: Charm Bracelet @ Summer Ave At & Clay 11am to 4pm
This class focuses on the creation of a set of fine silver charms for a charm bracelet. Students are encouraged to bring in rubber stamps, fabrics, ribbons, lace, or other items for creating texture on metal clay. Some modeling/sculpting experience would be helpful but is not required. Fine silver metal clay, findings, and a sterling silver charm bracelet are included in the class fee. A metal clay tool kit will be provided for use in class.
December - Make Jewelry with Brandy Boyd: Wrap Ring Workshop @ Summer Ave Art & Clay 11am to 2pm
This 3-hour class will focus on texture and bling as we create a sterling silver by-pass ring that can be adjusted to fit your finger. We will texture a band and embellish it with fire in place CZs. The ring will be fired after
class and tumbled to a brilliant shine before being returned for pick up. The sterling metal clay and CZs of various color options are included in your class fee. A metal clay tool kit will be available for use in class. Your ring will be fired after class and will be available for pickup the following week. Register at Summer Ave Art & Clay
January 8th & 9th, 2021- Kitchen Table Silversmithing- The Basics @ Arkansas Craft School.
This 2-day class includes my popular Chunky Chains workshop and Bezel set pendant workshop in one awesome weekend so you go home with a beautiful pendant and chain! It's a great intensive for those wanting to learn silversmithing techniques. Click on the link in the title for all the deets!
February 4th-6th, 2021 - Camp PMC Certification @ Arkansas Craft School
Join certified Camp PMC Instructor & Memphis based professional metalsmith Brandy Boyd for this Precious Metal Clay Certification course. This class consists of a total of 14 hours of instruction spread out over two days. Students will learn all of the fundamental skills required to work with metal clays and be successful with all PMC products.
Students will make 5 projects including a pair of earrings with a fireable stone, a double textured pendant with syringe detail, wrapped beads, a sculpted toggle clasp, and a wrapped ring with a fireable stone. The class will utilize PMC3, PMC Flex, and PMC OneFire 950 clays to ensure each student learns the appropriate usage of each type of clay.
Upon successful completion of projects and lecture time, students will take a short written test. Upon passing, each student will receive a CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION from the Sawtooth School for Visual Art (Provided by the Instructor) and an 8% discount on all PMC clays at Clay Revolution and Rio Grande Jewelry Supply! Here's the fine print: These are grown-up classes, but we know some kids are pretty cool and want to make awesome art too.
Minimum ages: 16 and a parent or guardian must also attend.
For girls' night out classes- wine is welcome, but you must drink responsibly. We do not permit wine/beer/etc at hot work classes.
Food is also welcome at all classes- we have a fridge and a microwave on-site or there are several places nearby to order food from. Workshop classes include 45-60 minutes for lunch.
Also offering Art Clay certification classes for groups of 4 or more. Please inquire regarding details if interested.
