Upcoming Classes:

May 15th @ Woven Metal 2 Memphis Botanic Gardens 10 am to 5 pm

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to make three different woven pieces. (if you took Metal Weaving in March, these are *different* projects, but similar techniques) Project 1 is a pendant woven on a freeform frame with mixed metals (sterling silver and copper). Project 2 is a woven cuff – the brass frame is ready for you to weave fine wires on. There will be the option to add bling! Project 3 is pair of earrings woven with flat strips of metal.

Your class kit ($40- payable to instructor at the class time) includes all the materials needed to make one of each type of project. We will have extra kits for each of the projects if you want to purchase and make more.

Your class fee includes full-color step-by-step instructions for each project, so you’ll be able to easily make more at home!

All the heavy-hitting tools for this class are provided for use- we have mandrels, hammers, and more. If you have the following tools, please bring them as it will make the class go smoother and faster:  Jewelry files, Jewelry pliers, steel block, and rawhide/nylon mallet.

August 27th and 28th  Enameling on Silver clay - MCAS - Metal Clay Artist Symposium @ Sawtooth Winston-Salem, NC

Join me at the Metal Clay Artist Symposium at Sawtooth School for the Visual Arts!!  Learn how to make the perfect metal clay piece for enameling!

We will create pieces using two techniques- champlevé and cloisonné. It is the student’s choice to create pendants or earrings (or mix it up!)  Our first day will be focused on how to create for enameling success and you’ll make your metal clay base pieces. These will be fired and tumbled overnight so they’re ready for you on day two.

Day two will be all about adding color, including information on what colors work best with fine silver, how to finish your pieces for that smooth mirror finish that makes enamel look so dreamy, and all sorts of information you need to know about enameling that will give you the confidence to create on your own after class. Click on the link in the title for all the details.

September 24-26th- Pink Palace arts & crafts festival- Virginia Fisher and I will be demoing in the first big demo tent!
