KTSS - Botanical Bezels
Time & Location
About the Event
Are you ready to add unique cast elements to your work and create something truly one of a kind? Then this is the class for you! Join metalsmith Brandy Boyd for a day of silversmithing, utilizing sterling cast botanicals sourced from master casters. They grow their own succulents and flowers and cast them in sterling silver for us to use in jewelry making!
We'll be creating a pendant with a bezel set cabochon and adding these cast botanicals. You are welcome to bring your own cabochon(s) to class and they will be verified they're suitable for the project- recommended size is less than 1.5 inches square. A large selection of cast pieces and cabochons will be available for purchase and your class kit price will depend on the elements you select for your piece. The average cost for supplies is $40-50, depending on the size of the pieces chosen and will include sterling backing plate, bezel wire, decorative elements and your choice of bail. You're also welcome to come by BMB Designs prior to class and select your cabochon, botanical and any elements you wish to use.
Required tools- Microtorch and firing block, jewelry files, jewelry pliers
Recommended tools- texturing hammers, if you want to add any texture to your piece, rawhide mallet, steel block.
I will have ring mandrels, an assortment of hand tools, liver of sulfur, pickle, and polishing necessities for use in class. You will leave with a finished piece!
