About the Event

In this two-day workshop, we will cover all the basics of how to start metalsmithing and soldering with a torch. You will create a chunky silver chain using sterling silver wire *and* create a pendant with a bezel set flat-backed stone called a cabochon to wear on your fancy chain! For the chain, you'll have the option to shape your links using a variety of mandrels, texture the silver using hammers, construct your own clasp, and have options to polish to a bright finish, or patina to bring out the texture. For the pendant, we will talk about what makes a stone easy to use in jewelry, how to create bezels and make interesting and attractive designs setting the stone, and finishing techniques that will make your work really shine.
