Kitchen Table Silversmithing - All the Basics

Learn to fabricate jewelry using a butane micro torch! You will discover the basics of soldering sterling silver and fabricating a linked bracelet, a pendant with stone, pair of earrings, and a ring. You’ll explore bezels for cabochons, textures for jewelry, and use premade settings to add calibrated gemstones.

All materials included. Students can bring additional sterling silver and flat backed gemstones that are smaller than a quarter.

Students will learn: How to use a microtorch to solder sterling and fine silver, how to make a bezel for a cabochon, add texture to metal, create a ring shank in a specific size, solder wire to make a chain, make earwires, make post earrings, use premade settings to add gemstones, set cabochons, polishing/finishing. make accent balls, add decorative wire around bezels, use different kinds of patina.
