KTSS- Boxes and Lockets - Knuckle Hinge

NOTE: This locket making class focuses on fabrication of knuckle hinges. The materials kit included in the kit fee uses copper (and some silver) for the piece - a silver upgrade can be purchased based on the metals market at the time of the class.

This is an intermediate-level class and will require knowledge of basic silver soldering, using jewelry files, pliers, and bezel making. A basic locket with a clasp can be completed in class. If you choose to add additional elements or techniques, you may not complete the project in class. Full instructions for completing the piece are provided for you to take home for reference (to complete your locket or to make more). 

This class will cover traditional knuckle hinges- this is easiest with a rectangle or square base. If a different shape is selected, there may be design/fabrication considerations that require additional time. Students will create…
