About the Event
This advanced beginner/intermediate adults-only class is for students that have taken one (or more) of the Kitchen Table Silversmithing classes or has experience with making jewelry or working with metals and a torch.
Bigger is easier when you’re starting out, so we’ll create a stepped bezel setting for a statement sized piece of bling. A CZ is provided in your kit, but you’re welcome to bring a faceted stone of your own. Ovals, rounds, cushions, and soft trillions are recommended, in sizes at least 8mm. The height from the girdle of the stone to the culet should not exceed a half inch.
In this workshop, you'll learn how to create your own stepped setting for a large faceted stone. Once you've created the stepped setting, you'll add it to a ring band that you create from plain or pattern wire. Adding elements to the sides of the stone will also be covered and an assortment of elements and gallery wire will be available for you to select from.
All materials are included in the class fee including sterling silver and a stone. There will be an assortment of stones to choose from, so everyone will be able to create their own unique piece.
The use of all tools is included in the class fee. However, students are welcome to bring a butane micro torch, soldering block, and basic hand tools (jewelry files and pliers), as it will help students get comfortable with their own tools.
