About the Event

Have you always wanted to learn how to make jewelry using metals like sterling silver and copper, but felt intimidated by the cost of getting started? Soldering real silver jewelry doesn’t require a setup that costs hundreds of dollars! In this class you will learn how to use a Butane Micro-Torch for silver soldering.


In this two-day workshop, we will cover all the basics of how to start metalsmithing and soldering with a torch. You will create a mixed link chain using sterling silver wire and machine made chain *and* create a pendant with a bezel set flat-backed stone called a cabochon to wear on your chain!


For the chain, you will shape your links using a variety of mandrels, texture the silver using hammers (we will go over ways to get different textures out of normal hammers and how to get the best results using texturing hammers), construct your own clasp,…
