Bling It On: Super Bling Ring

Bling it on! As metalsmiths, there is one thing we can't get enough of....stones! And the more sparkly, the better. In this exciting class, guest instructor Brandy Boyd will show you how to build a stepped bezel setting for a chonky faceted stone to make a gorgeous ring. Keep it simple or add embellishments and learn various polishing and texturing techniques that will turn an ordinary ring into a unique heirloom piece.

Bigger is easier when you’re starting out. A cubic zirconia is provided in your kit, but you’re welcome to bring a faceted stone of your own to work with as well.

NOTE: Ovals, rounds, cushions, and rounded trillions are recommended, in sizes at least 8mm. The height from the top edge of the girdle of the stone to the culet should not exceed 3/16” for a ring. If you’re unsure if your stone will work, bring it and…
