Jewelry Class with Brandy Boyd: Settings for Faceted Stones-Stepped Bezel Ring
September 9, 10 am-5 pm
Learn to create settings for faceted stones. This advanced beginner/intermediate adults-only class is for students that have taken one (or more) of the Kitchen Table Silversmithing classes.
Bigger is easier when you’re starting out, so we’ll create a stepped bezel setting for a decent-sized piece of bling. A CZ is provided in your kit, but you’re welcome to bring a faceted stone of your own. Ovals, rounds, cushions, and soft trillions are recommended, in sizes at least 6mm. The height from the girdle of the stone to the culet should not exceed a half inch. The class project is an embellished ring but supplies can be traded out to make a pendant if rings just aren’t your jam.
All materials are included in the $45 class kit fee (tax included, cash or card only due at the time of class), including sterling silver and a stone. There will be an assortment of stones to choose from, so everyone will be able to create their own unique piece.
The use of all tools is included in the class fee. However, students are welcome to bring a butane micro torch, soft soldering block, or basic hand tools (jewelry files and pliers), as it will reduce sharing and familiarize them with their tools.
Bring a sack lunch or enjoy a box lunch from Fratelli’s.
$60 MBG Members/$75 Non-Members (plus $45 kit fee payable to the instructor at the start of class). Register no later than September 6.
